That was today's media availability.
----

From The Athletic:
Over the course of 42 minutes on Sunday, Cheveldayoff recoiled from criticisms of his tenure as GM. He sold the team’s modest but real improvement and fourth playoff qualification in the last six seasons as an accomplishment. He responded to the stat that Winnipeg has won the 25th most playoff games since 2011-12 with a walkthrough of the Jets’ draft-and-develop history. When it was then pointed out that Winnipeg has won one playoff series since 2017-18’s success, Cheveldayoff bristled. He doubled down on the 2018 Western Conference finals appearance and the 2021 sweep of the Oilers, later adding, “Don’t let facts stand in the way of a good story.”

It’s clear in the comments on this site that fans’ frustration is approaching a boiling point. On social media, Cheveldayoff’s deadline day insistence that Winnipeg had all of the pieces to compete for the Stanley Cup is making the rounds. So too is his retort to fans who wanted to see the Jets do more at the trade deadline. “This isn’t fantasy hockey,” he said. “This is real.” But fans don’t want to be patronized for their critique of the team they love. They want to be told how and why things are going to get better.

---

This is a truly bizzare communications strategy in my view.

Yeah Chevy I'm really living in a delusional fantasy hockey world, guess I'm just asking for too much when I think trading a 5th round pick for Gus Nyquist would be a good move... 🙄
Like how could we of fit his cap hit that could've been parked on LTIR... 😆

Gawd he's delusional and so is Chipman, they've put a subpar product on the ice for years which isn't close to good enough to truly contend with AND they've let the inmates run the asylum yet they don't think criticism is justified, they're just ****ing delusional and arrogant as ****.

Still say best move is can Chevy, zinger and whoever else in old regime and bring in new president, let him hire a gm, possibly a coach and start a new path. Chipman can hold down his owners suite and board of governors meetings, but wouldn’t be bad to get him out of the spotlight and a different face and voice takes over.

The biggest challenge will be getting something to change one level above Chevy. I'm not sure what it would take for Chipman to decide to step back from his reported significant involvement in hockey decisions and to add another executive salary to the payroll as president. I am not sure what the trigger for that could be.

There's a lot of talk about Chipman being overly involved in day to day hockey decisions, if thats true that's the first thing that needs to change.

Someone told me who's pretty close to the team said the main reason why they needed to hire Trotz was cause he wouldn't put up with any bull**** and he'd put Chipman and Chevy in their place.

At this point ya gotta wonder if the only reason Chevy is still here is cause he's an obedient 'yes man.

Here is the answer from Jeff Hamilton (Free Press):

I've heard Wiebe and McIntyre say similar things.

I think you guys are correct, same thing that was successful in the car business, not so successful in the hockey business, kind of the al Davis of the hockey world without the persona or ultimate success. Was solid early on, but replacing that original success has been less and less, in theory can’t even replace wheeler at this point, let alone scheifele, I’m still hopeful of perfetti but heinola and stanley are probably pretty close to write offs. Got to make some adjustments and battle on, only going to get tougher.

Yeah well, Too bad that Copp, Laine and Trouba will never go back to Winnipeg. So it's all moot anyways.
