I've said this before but I'll keep saying it: JTC coming off a career year has disappointment written all over him. My prediction is that he regresses to his career mean and is back to being a 35 point guy. I like him and he's a guy you want to keep around but not at that term or cap hit. Also, I wouldn't count on Nuke being off the books. Landy is a lot tougher to predict but I bet he gives it a go at some point next season.

JTC is a coach's dream, so consistent. With 3rd line mins he produced 3rd line pts; with 2nd line mins he produced 2nd line pts. This year TOI 15:30, prev high 13:09 rookie season 16-17

I still see him as a candidate for regression. Plus, his underlying metrics are very "meh;" he's more of a passenger than a play-driver. Don't get me wrong - I like JTC and would love to have him back; he's pretty good defensively and is decent at the dot. But he is likely going to ask for a hefty raise and I'm not sure he's the guy they should be spending that money on. The question for me is, would the Avs be better served spending that money on someone that can be more dynamic? They DO, have options in the form of trades to open up space and acquire other players but if they give JTC the kind of contract listed here, that's going to make things a lot tighter. And this AGM assumes that Landy and Nuke are out for the season which is very unlikely to happen.
