I agree. This year's 2nd is tough (it should be 34th overall), but you'd think you recoup that plus more if you flip Kuzy at the 2025 deadline.

If Kuzy wants out they’ll be lucky to get anything. And CBJ 2nd this year is likely getting the Capitals a great player.

Kuznetsov requested a trade 2 years ago and the coach was just fired. I doubt he still wants out. And if he does, that doesn’t mean we’re trading him for a garbage return. Kuznetsov without retention should fetch a first. He’s an elite 2C or a solid 1C on a competitive team.

That would clear up some of the forward logjam CBJ have, but would also be selling low and early on a player that's dominated every level except the NHL. Current value-wise, yes probably...but I don't think the Jackets are ready to give up on him and would rather send the picks. He's the kind of player that could change scenery and burn us for years to come.
