If Wood goes before Reinbacher, Moore, Barlow and Benson, I will eat my hat. And then I will laugh at the dumb team.
Leafs fans would probably argue Wood is a top 5 pick since they think Knies is a god and Wood is just better at the same age.
I could live with MTL drafting Benson, Reinbacher, Moore at 6-7, but not Wood. I think he can go anywhere between 8 and 18. I'd be very happy getting him at 17 though.

Heh. I don't think he's better than Knies at all. The way people are picking him to go in the top 10 is blowing my mind. I would not even touch him at 17. He's Mike Hoffman, but a much worse skater. Teams that had Hoff in their top 6 have made it past the first round of the playoffs one time in his career. And his teams miss the playoffs more than they make it, mostly because good teams are not terribly interested in him.

I think Wood is as good at 18 than Knies was at 19. If he keep improving, he might have a better 20 years old season than Hobey Baker winner Knies. I could see WSH, ARI or CGY draft him.
Hoffman is one of the softest player in the league. I disagree about the comparaison. I'd say Wood full potential is something between Josh Anderson and Max Pacioretty depending on how many goals he can score and how gritty he is. But he could also be a bust 4th liner.

But he's not gritty at all. At least so far. Has he scored any dirty area goals for U Conn? If he did, I missed it. Seems like he only scores when he's completely undeterred in space and he sticks mostly to the perimeter. Great friggin hands, though, so he better score a lot because the rest of his game is sorely lacking. But yeah, somebody will probably reach on him. In fact I hope they do.
