The kid is 24 with 5 more years on his deal and he was over a point per game. Not a fan of either team but come on that’s returning a ton. Suggesting a 1 for 1 trade of a defenseman prospect for a ppg 24 yo is ridiculous

Is it the right value? Sure probably. As a red wing fan do I want to do it? No. I’d love Keller but edvinsson and seider as the top pair for the next 15 years is just too good to pass up

Because you already saw a glimpse of Edvinsson in the NHL, at a way too young age, and it was beautiful. Top pairing defenseman will always trump really good winger.

Edvinsson is big, he can really skate, he is defensively sound, and his offensive game has shown at the NHL level before he is ready.

Keller is great. Not even close unless there was a ready-made 1st pair prospect close to ready (Wallinder maybe). AJ would be the ready made 2nd pair. In that case, Edvinsson could be traded, but I think a trade like this happens after the next season, and the picks are going the wrong way.

Yes Keller has 5 more years on his deal BUT he could leave after that. Edvinsson makes 925k for 3 more years and then we could sign him to a 8 year contract. Edvinsson for 11 years>Keller for 5 years.
