If Detroit loves Will Smith then yeah sure, I'm not sure I love him enough to want to do it though. If michkov fell then absolutely yes.

I'd rather have Moore anyway. Smith can be better overall, but I am concerned with his foot speed and shooting. Heckuva a playmaker, as long as it translates to the NHL.

Fat chance Yzerman would use pick 9 and 18 to move up 4 spaces. If we use pick 9 and 18 along with some of our 2nds that player had better be at least Mitchkov/Smith at the very worst.

Michkov is probable if teams feel his coming over in 2026/2027 could be a hindrance. Carlsson will be 3-4 more than likely. Would love to have any of those players at 5 but even at 9 and 18 we'll still get 2 very good players.

If MTL had only one pick in the first round, they might be interested.
Like everyone said, it all depends if you value Smith/Mitchkov/Benson much higher than what is probably available at 9th.

Wouldn't be surprised. Teams like the Ducks (Zegras, McTavish) and maybe even the Yotes/Sharks (Cooley/Eklund) wouldn't need someone like Carlsson/Smith.
