As for the trades, the Carlson trade is terrible. Johnson is a huge downgrade. Caps would never do that.

Good thing Kuznetsov has trade protection and would likely block a trade to winnipeg. Jets are in no position to be spending first and young nhl cost controlled assets. Kuznetsov is just not a fit. I'd rather play lambert at 2c who is dominating the whl rn.

A high 2nd seems a bit steep for Oshie to me. Almost 6 million in cap for a middle 6 forward who turns 37 near the beginning of the season. That's a poor use of assets, and he doesn't fit the age structure Buffalo has said they are looking for. If they add a middle 6 forward it would need to be someone younger who is a proven PKer or solid face-off guy (preferably both). He also has that 10 team no trade list.

people really saw the caps season completely fall apart when carlson got injured and are still trying to trade him for peanuts and replace him with bottom pairing guys. he's still a top 10 defender in the league on an extremely fair deal
