A bottom six forward, a goalie that looks to be a 1b at best and a first rounder next year for an Alex Tuch type who can play all situations and can get you 20+ goals and 50+ points on this Sabres team.

My big question would be, what are they gonna do with Luukkonnen now that Levi looks to be the crowned starter? And as for Jost, he's a bottom six forward that will probably hit 50-60% of Smith's production. Although I like him, I have no problem moving him for a superior player like Smith.

You are still overpaying. He will be 34 years old when his deal is over, and that’s if Buffalo isn’t on his no trade list now. If he were willing to come, I still wouldn’t trade away the pieces you have here. Buffalo can still use Luukkonen as their 1-B goaltender. Levi should not be expected to play 50 games. Every team still needs 2 competent Goaltenders, and two of them that are this inexpensive is an advantage. Fix up the blue line and find Owen Power a long-term partner. A player like Smith could be very useful, but don’t overpay. I would give up Olofsson with some retention, and a player like Brett Murray. Vegas should be looking to get younger soon.

I feel ya, but a couple of points. Are you sure you want to head into next season with a 21 yr. old rookie and a 24 yr. old backup? Luukkonnen's played in 46 NHL games coming out with a 3.47 gaa and .898 sv%? In addition, who's gonna trade anything of value for a one-trick pony who was benched (finally) after scoring only three goals in 24 games during the Sabres playoff push?

I think Vegas would want more for a solid, all-purpose winger like Smith whose career totals equal 21 goals/82 gms and 51 points/82gms and save for the 2024 1st rounder, I don't think they're losing anything in this trade scenario would be a detriment to their future.

Vegas can want lots of things. Realistically they need cap space, and getting $2 million of it without losing any actual production is probably a pretty good move. People can call Olofsson a one trick pony all they like, but he’s no longer power-play dependent and he’s reliable for 20+ goals and 40+ points a year on his own. We’re talking about a team who gave away Pacioretty with a pretty good young defenseman just for cap space last year. Keep in mind Luukkonen‘s bad numbers come from a timeframe on the team was terrible too, and god-awful defensively in front of him this year. It’s a pretty safe bet any goaltender is going to have bad numbers behind that blueline. Improve the team’s defensive awareness, and the goaltending will be better by default. Most people expect the Sabres to be a playoff team next year, not necessarily a favorite Cup contender. I think that goaltending duo can get them there. If the Sabres are a legitimate cup contender come January, maybe they look for a veteran goaltender to work more with Levi. But if the Sabres really are a contender at that point, it will be because both Goaltenders have been good.
