Difficult season nex year

Équipe: 2023-24 Canadiens de Montréal
Date de création initiale: 12 avr. 2023
Publié: 12 avr. 2023
Mode - plafond salarial: Basique
Description
This team's factors to address:

1-Lack of starpower. Suzuki/Dach/Caufield are great players, but even when healthy they won't provide enough scoring (because the rest of the team won't score).

2-Defense. Mattheson (who has played very well), and Guhle are the only top4 Dman currently on this team. Harris/Xhekaj/Barron need to find their places on top 4 or become expendable. I KNOW they were only rookies this year, all I am saying is this team can't wait more than 1-2 yrs to find two more top4. Also, find some dmen who can play on PP, PPlease!

3-Tending. Who/what is this team's medium or long-term 'tender plan? No one right now. Habs need to find someone who can play while Suzuki/Caufield/Dach are in their prime.

4-Prospects. a) for the love of gawd stop overhyping and rushing prospects. b) logjam of prospects on D and Wing. Not a bad thing, but can't impede their growth.

Even IF Habs stay healthy next year (assuming they dont draft Bedard), they'll be in the 25-30 range again. Maybe 20-25 if Caufield scores 50. Either way, management needs to address these problems.

Buyouts: Armia summer 24, Gallagher summer 25/26

Hutson and Barron are top 4, only after a few years of development. The goalie could be Hrabal or Bjarnason too. or a goalie that would be made available, like Hart?
Top 6 pick this year and maybe a move for a young player thats already in nhl with the panther's first.
Habs just need another top dman (24draft is stacked with dmen supposedly), a top 10 pick in that draft would be really good, the top 3 is also really good, Kivi, Celebrini and Eiserman.

wow i really dont agree with your view on the habs talent levels and where they will finish next year. Are you ever off and seeing the glass as half empty. With no additions the habs will not finish in the top 10 worst teams as they wont have the injuries again like this year and some of those young players will keep improving and more of the deadwood like byron drouin hoffman and maybe even Armia will be gone replace by HLP and Ylonen and maybe Roy or Beck and the other prospects giving us the best laval team in years with Farrell and Struble and Mesar and Heinemann and others. And beck or armia might be in laval too. When you add this all up and maybe add bedard and dubois and you dont think we will be much better? That is just the most ridiculous thing i have heard this week.

top 10next year be hard as i think the habs will battle for a playoff spot and probably fall short and finish between 12-15 worst overall... Too many good young players with loads of upside and now we have HLP and Ylonen who have shown that they are ready so we no longer need Hoffman or Armia and those 2 players are much better than those other 2. Plus Caufield is going explode next year like he was doing this year and Dach will be better too.. imagine if we add dubois as well. so solid and not to mention that none of our defenseman will be rookies

next season sure they'll still be bad not this bad but bottom 12 in '23-24 but once their prospects have seasoned and money opens up in 2024, PLD at 95% going to MTL and free agent adds when the whole league is talking about how much they'd like to play for a coach like Marty St Louis?!? This should be a quick turnaround.

funny though if you look at that lineup with healthy players and add dubois we have a solid top six forwards and i really like our defense... guhle is going to be a stud defenseman who can shutdown top players and score too and matheson has been an awesome pick up... Add in steady savard and super poised Harris and even the third pairing looks great with Xjerex and kovacevic plus Barron that is a solid defense corps plus i think Monty could be a decent nhl starter.. decent not a superstar

i feel like Hughes would sell Eddy and Anderson, if there was an offer that he feels alright with, we could also just move up in the top 8 range if the pick is in the 12 range, habs need a couple more high end players, a top pair dman, maybe in 24 draft. and if Monty is only having a career year and returns to his usual form in 24, that would also be helpful for habs.

yes but he provides what we need in those three years and he is essental to having a team that can play in the playoffs.. What do we care if in year four he is no longer a great asset for trade... we need him now.. look at all the small forwards in Farrell and Caufield and gally and hlp you cant keep adding little guys.. you need guys like anderson and slaf and Dubois to beef up your lineup for the playoffs and that is why hughes is not looking to move anderson

habs wont be in playoff in the next 3 years but you just said they need Anderson in playoffs. Anderson wont be the Anderson that he is today when that time comes and he'll prob be breaking down, like Gallagher is rn. and size wise we already have Slaf, Dach, Heineman, Guhle, Xhekaj (makes everyone else 2 inches taller cuz he's Xhekaj).
Dach would be 1st line, Slaf 2nd and Heineman 3rd. 6'4, 6'3 and 6'2 on each line seems alright to me, could add another one in this draft with panther's pick, Barlow, Wood, Musty or But, all big guys, or PLD as you said.
Sell high on Anderson would be the best move, not in 3 years when he's gonna be slowing down and worth a 1/4 of his salary, he's also not worth 5.5 atm but if you get an offer thats good enough you should take it.

silliness of course the habs will make the playoffs i think they challenge next year and make it the following year when all the old tampa and boston players fade away due to old age....like Krejci and Bergeron and stamkos and even hedman slowing down ... yes 2 years we make the playoffs

I've been reading everyone's posts here and I guess I just disagree with all the hype. I think people are realllyyy overvaluing the young players. Not all of Hutson/Roy/Farrell/Heineman/Mailloux/Mesar/Strubble/Beck will make it. Not every prospect turns into a regular pro. Even less likely they all do it in Mtl.
I think being realistic and pessimistic are 2 different things. I think some of us are way too keen on the prospects.

Beck has the floor to be a 3C, Heineman too is a 3rd line winger, Roy could def make it as a 3rd liner, maybe a 2nd liner, habs have a bunch of mid to bottom 6, they need more high end prospects, smith/benson/moore on this draft and next year draft a dman that would be on par with Guhle potential wise.

the ones u mentionned, maybe strubble, mesar (boom or bust), mailloux cuz reasons, only those three could prob not make it, farrell just has too big of a hockey iq to not make it, be it on habs or another team.
