One approach to the off-season
Pre-draft and pre-playoff overview
Only NYR RFA and UFA
1L -Zibby and Panerin, add Tro for grit and RW depth
2L - kid line graduates
3L - Kreids+1 top prospect
4L - 1 top prospect and one of Leschyshyn, Korczak, BMB, Grubbe, Edstrom, or Rempe by mid-season steps up to 3C role and Goodrow drops to 4C. Trade/UFA market? Still not pleased about Rydahl.

A large part of Cap increase is used by 22-23 bonuses
Performance bonuses projected overage of $610.9K, used the worst case scenario ~$875K

4C/3C - Leschyshyn, Korczak, BMB. Grubbe, Edstrom and Rempe. Probably Leschyshyn vs BMB (since CHL otherwise). Leschyshyn makes the roster by default with the rest for AHL seasoning
3LD - Jones (used QO), Robertson. 50/50 on who wins.

The 7.5% is the amount of potential obligation a team is allowed to have before it starts counting against the cap in the current year. In 22-23, if a team had more than $6,187,500 (82.5M *7.5%) in potential performance bonuses written into contracts then it would immediately start counting against the cap thereby affecting the TDL. Some teams have run into this problem because they could not bring up a prospect with a potentially large $$ obligation in performance bonuses because it would affect the cap. Any amount that is paid at the end of the year above the cap will carry over to next year's cap
