Toews and Newhook for Bennett??? That's incredibly bad for Colorado. I'd like to get Bennett, but that's way too much.

That's a Big Mac of an overpay by Colorado got Bennett if not a Whopper! Signings are pretty off too in a lot of places.

Ig, but there's only one year left on Toews' contract and Lord knows if we can resign him. Newhook is overrated and probably won't be much better than a 3C. Keep Girard (the better asset) and sacrifice a rental and a young depth guy who we can easily replace

If the Avs move Toews, I think Florida makes sense. However, if it's Bennett they are getting in return, there is no need to include Newhook (who does still have a high ceiling and is worth quite a bit), and I think the Panthers are the ones that add. Toews is significantly better than Bennett, and presumably Florida would extend him.

Not knowing the value of a top 10 dman in the league even with only a year left is a massive loss. FLA would have to add a 1st + in addition to Bennett to make it even remotely worth doing. Newhook isn’t overrated he’s figuring out how to play C in the NHL and his ceiling is so much higher than Bennett’s is cost controlled and has at worst matched what Bennett has done through his career.
