The injury to Wahlstrom might actually be a saving grace when it comes to the Islanders doing their budget. Since he’s been hurt he won’t be able to command quite as much as he otherwise would have, but Mayfield is going to cost a pretty penny. I doubt the Islanders can really afford to lose him either. I still think they will try to move Pageau, I just don’t know who is going to take that salary without dumping another of their own in return.

If Buffalo was interested, you’d be lucky to get a fourth or fifth round pick to just get that salary off the books. That’s about what he’s worth.

Pageau has significant value based on his positional value. I think it’s more likely they just dump bailey and call it a day tho lol.

I think it will take more than Bailey, but Arizona seems like a great place for him to end up. They love picking up the tab for other teams without actually trying to be competitive themselves. It’s actually pretty pathetic. No matter how bad your franchise might be you can always feel slightly more competent when compared to the Arizona Coyotes.

He’s worth significantly more than that. Buffalo showed again that they can’t defend.

Overpay a UFA or overpay in a trade. Either way you’re overpaying someone for these types of players. Why do you think they make so much for so long? Pageau, Cizikas, Goodrow, Coleman, Coyle, heck even Toews was overpaid by the Hawks. Those kind of glue guys are what separates winners from pretenders. Buffalo doesn’t have those guys yet.
