Here's the issue I have with there resigning of Matthews and Nylander. Let's say the cap goes up 5m as you suggest in 24/25. Matthews and Nylander just between the two of them gets 6m increase as you suggest. So despite the fact other players on the team should be getting raises, and in order to attract players to sign with the Leafs they will want more money.
I dunno, haven't the Leafs gone this route with so much of their cap going to "few players" and it hasn't succeeded. A greater % of cap going to Matthews, Nylander and I assume Marner next season, does this really make the Leafs better.
