Description
If you want Wilson you have to realize that if he was ever put up on the block to sell, 20+ teams would be bidding for him. He's a unicorn that every team wants. His return would be massive. You all keep offering a return for a 50-60 point power winger, which is fine, but then you need to keep adding because if you want him you'll have to outbid a lot of other teams.

Wilson's realistic return would be a 1st+top prospect+top 6 player/top 4 player at LEAST, depending on where that 1st is, how good the top prospect is, or how good the NHL F or D player is. For example, if TOR wanted Wilson it would be Nylander+Knies most likely. Yes, I know that's a severe overpay but that's the kind of return it would take to beat out other teams.

But again, at the end of the day, the Caps aren't trading Wilson. He's the next captain. Only way they trade him is if he asks to be moved.

You're including this season. Small sample.

He'll hit that, easily.

Hilarious. He's never once scored 25 goals or 55 points in a season, yet you're attributing those numbers to him as if they're career averages or something.

Nobody believes your claptrap but you.

He'd easily hit both 25 goals and 55-60 points in a full season. His one flaw is making dicey hits that shorten his seasons.

Many believe it. Wish Caps would trade him just to prove the point but it isn't happening. Not going to find another Tom Wilson out there.

Availability is a skill. One that Wilson doesn't possess... which reduces his value. To attribute 25 goals and 55-60 points to a 29 year old who has never hit those numbers even once in his career is not helping your case at all. You clearly have an inflated sense of his worth, and are blind to that fact.

Nah not really. He'd easily hit those numbers in a full season and GMs know that. If Jeannot is getting a kings ransom for his speed, hitting, and skill (which isn't even close to Wilson's), Wilson would bring in an absolute insane return. It's only logical.

It doesn't matter how unique or in demand a player might be, if they are over $5M and not a point per game, they are a cap dump. Especially if they are over 33 .. oops it's 31 .. sorry, it's down to 28 now. If they are over 28 they are only a couple days from falling off a cliff and becoming the next Lucic.

No it isn't logical. Everyone knows that the Lightning will over pay for they player-type they want provided that player comes with a minimal cap hit. See Coleman ($1.8M), Goodrow ($925k), Savard ($1M), Hagel ($1.5M), Jeannot ($800k). If Wilson cost less than $2M you could argue this point, but he doesn't. Tampa overpaid for VALUE deals, Wilson isn't one.

Yes he is. Wish he was traded now, but luckily, it won't happen.
