Yes, this whole team is a farce (I overpaid for everyone to show that there's a ton of room to fix things)... Unfortunately, I fully expect Hextall to actually make some of these deals...
But, I'm interested in your evaluation of Gibby and Jarry... I'd take Gibby at 6.5 vs Jarry at 5 any day. I can't see anywhere the Ducks add to trade the 2 goalies.
Since Gibby's 8x6.4 deal kicked in in the 2019-20 season this is how the two goalies compare:
John Gibson - 184 Games, .903 SV%, 3.26 GAA, -21.53 goals saved above average, -14.06 goals saved above expected.
Tristan Jarry - 161 Games, .917 SV%, 2.56 GAA, 41048 goals saved above average, 7.35 goals saved above expected.
(GSAA and GSAx stats from evolving hockey)
Last time Gibson got Vezina votes was the year before his contract kicked in. Last time Jarry got Vezina votes was last season. Additionally, Jarry got a Hart vote in 2019-20.
Jarry has been statistically superior in pretty much every single way for the last 4 seasons. And he's 2 years younger.
Sure, you can argue he's been on a better team this whole time, but Jarry's currently on par with his best despite the Pens' defense being a major weakness.
