Meier is equal to Svechnikov if not slightly better, Hughes is better than Aho, Hischier is better than Kotkaniemi, Bratt is better than Necas. The only advantage you have in the top 6 is Teräväinen over Sharangovich and Jarvis over Tatar. On the 3rd line, Palat is better than Martinook, Staal is slightly better than Haula mostly due to size, and Mercer is better than Fast. 4th lines kind of cancel out

I personally agree with you but doesn’t sound like Canes are done. Maybe Waddell should make a sacrificial move instead of bargain bin hunting. It’s kind of a waste considering this cores window.

Sure, offensively, I will give you that the Devils are slightly stronger than the Canes. That being said, defensively the Devils can’t touch the Canes, and I would argue the Canes have gotten slightly better goaltending this year. What the roster looks like on paper doesn’t matter. 2018-19 RD1 Columbus vs Tampa should be a very clear indicator for that. Comparatively speaking, quite a bit of the Devils roster lacks playoff experience, whereas almost the entire roster for the Canes has playoff experience. Frankly, before these additions, considering that Patches has only played 5 games this year, the Canes roster was a lot weaker than the Devils, yet the Canes have been ahead of the Devils for the majority of the season.
