I don't believe so at all, excluding the Burns trade his moves have been ones I like. He seems to have direction of the team, but his big test will be the Timo Meier return. Like everyone I am excited to see the return, hoping Grier gets a favorable return.

1. Carolina needed to add a 1st round pick in the Brent Burns trade to make it fair IMO.

2. With respect to Timo Meier, the bare minimum for a fair deal IMO is the Kevin Fiala trade between the Kings and the Wild.

That means San Jose needs a solid prospect + an unconditional first, preferably for 2023.

if you're going to trade for a fringe players around the edges of your lineup, may aswell get someone you know works within your system and organization that you dont need to start from scratch with. Just look at the rangers trading for motte again

That trade made sense to me, because the Rangers got marginally better now, while Ottawa got marginally better futures. Colorado appears to have gotten the worse end of the deal in a trade they really didn't need to make.

I agree with the Burns assessment, and now that the Meier trade is finalized, yeah, he really made a mistake on that front

Fair deal. Johnson returns to Colorado to defend the Stanley Cup. Chicago makes another change to get younger to compete soon.

Honestly ...

I'm going to hold off for a while on making any judgements on the Timo Meier trade.

There are a lot of moving pieces and we don't know whether San Jose is getting two 1st round picks or just one.

If you look at the Erik Karlsson trade, everybody thought the Sharks fleeced us back in 2018.

Once 2020 rolled around, everybody was singing a different tune.

Been happy with Enlund's game this season. JJ on the other hand was a frustrating piece to have in the lineup and he has likely declined since last season. Think there should be enough good locker room guys in the lineup as it is, don't see the need to add JJ again.. However, guess all in all it makes little to no overall impact to trade a 7th dman.
