If any of that were true about Bjorkstrand why are you dreaming up scenarios where you unload him for 8 weeks of Patrick Kane? He's formed SEA's best line so ... time to ship him out?
idk, if he has value why not trade him for something. My guess is no team in the league wants anything to do with 3 more years at 5.5 for a guy with 30 points.
I'm not the one advocating for trading him. In my opinion this trade is a bad one for the Kraken and one they shouldn't and wouldn't make.
In his last three seasons, Bjorkstrand has scored at a 60 point, 64 point, and 58 point pace over a full 82 game season. For that kind of production, you'd take a cap hit of $5.4M for the next three seasons every time. Ask any Blue Jackets fan how they felt when Bjorky was traded.
This season he's only on pace for 42 points, but much of that is due to an abnomally low shooting percentage that has already begun to tick back up of late. I expect his scoring to improve over the course of the rest of this season. As I mentioned before, he also does all the little things that don't show up on his point totals but show up on the ice, things like screening the goalie, digging out pucks to maintain possession, and intercepting passes to spring breakaways. Bjorky is a big reason why Tolvanen has done so well since arriving in Seattle.
So why not trade him, you ask? Because Bjorkstrand is helping the Kraken win hockey games, and the Kraken are aiming to win.
