I'll be different to the other two Avs fans on here and say Avs decline as I really don't see the gap between MacKinnon and McDavid as all that great.

Avs aren’t trading Toews to up to McDavid especially considering MacKinnon’s locked in for 8 yrs and McDavid’s next contract is going to be insane high $15M at least.

No it’s not, it makes EDM significantly better defensively and COL significantly worse defensively especially with all the extra ice time your favorite whipping boy Girard gets.

I agree to disagree. Avs likely wont be able to afford Toews moving forward anyway. Also Girard isnt my Favorite whipping boy lol He is a top 4 LD on most teams. Currently he is best trade chip Avs have with Toews and Byram on left side and Avs have a hole at 2C and no Cap space so ya he is in some mock trades for 2Cs

Exactly. He's arguably their best trade chip, so if you take this scenario and trade Toews as well, what are you left with on the left D? Byram, Englund, Hunt, MacDermid. They'll need to re-sign Toews and the difference between MacKinnon and McDavid is most definitely not Toews. As Xqb says you make Edmonton Better defensively and have little effect on weakening their offence, and have little effect on Colorado's offence whilst weakening their D. Terrible idea.

I wouldnt trade Girard if Toews was traded. I would have Byram Girard down left side and add a cheap bottom pair D. Still down a 2C I would trades picks and prospects for.

Again I disagree. I love Toews and MacKinnon but McDavid is in a league of his own and if that was the trade I believe you can make that work. Not worried about the Farm at this time.

I don't for a minute think either team would contemplate it and McDavid isn't close to being in a league of his own, even Gretzky wasn't because Lemieux. Thank God you're NOTJoeSakic (or even GMCM) is about all there is left to say then!
