If Jarvis were involved in this package, Meier would already be in Carolina, since NJ wouldn’t be offering up any of Hughes, Mercer, or Nemec to counter. And it’s unlikely that the Sharks would get a better offer from the 2 other teams rumored to still be in the running: Calgary and Dallas. Besides, for all we know, this could just be the Canes sending a bluff to NJ to see if they start considering moving be of the 3 aforementioned pieces. If they call the bluff, it’s still a dogfight for Meier. However, if they don’t call the bluff, that could potentially be the Canes biggest obstacle for Meier out of the way. Discounting the article you linked, I have only seen one other article, ever since the Canes started having interest in Meier, that suggested Jarvis might be in play. Say what you want about Jarvis, but if he were truly in play, there would be a lot more coverage than 2 articles.

Coverage has been pretty minimal altogether. We have no idea what the sharks will actually get at this point.
