Description
I tried to balance the things that I want and how those things would actually happen, so obviously I feel like Carolina would be overpaying to do this, though I'm sure that Cats and Sharks fans think the opposite (especially after my other but being honest, I'd rather see this team overpay than under-buy.
Transactions
1.
CAR
  1. Bennett, Sam
  2. Staal, Eric
  3. Staal, Marc
Détails additionnels:
The Staals are in there for my own nostalgia, but I can't help but wonder if GMDW is gonna try and play on that to get fans behind the idea of paying through the nose for assets at the deadline.

Bennett is the real prize here. I imagine that Carolina will ask for some retention seeing as how they have so many paydays coming up, but with his term and how cheap he already is, that will be sharply rejected.
FLA
  1. De Haan, Calvin
  2. Drury, Jack
  3. Stepan, Derek
  4. Choix de 1e ronde en 2023 (CAR)
  5. Choix de 3e ronde en 2023 (PHI)
  6. Choix de 5e ronde en 2023 (VAN)
  7. Choix de 6e ronde en 2023 (CHI)
Détails additionnels:
Florida is ever so slightly hurting for 1st rounders, but that's kind of a sign as to what direction they're going. They aren't rebuilding, so any trade would have to include almost exclusively NHL level assets to go along with all the futures, especially for a guy like Bennett.

I imagine, like the retention, Carolina will ask for some kind of a condition on the pick (it's a 2nd that upgrades if the team does well) but that will be shot down. Bennett is at a position of need for Carolina and he's in his prime with term. You get bank for that.
2.
CAR
  1. Harrington, Scott
  2. Meier, Timo (3 000 000 $ retained)
Détails additionnels:
This one is so close you could taste it. The only question is what the assets going the other way will be, and if I give a lot of thought to it, it's gonna be rich.
SJS
  1. Bokk, Dominik
  2. Coghlan, Dylan
  3. Gunler, Noel
  4. Suzuki, Ryan
  5. Choix de 2e ronde en 2024 (PHI)
  6. Choix de 3e ronde en 2024 (CAR)
  7. Choix de 1e ronde en 2025 (CAR)
Détails additionnels:
I think Carolina really wants to shy away from giving up anyone off their active roster. I know the other trade has Stepan & De Haan and this one has Coghlan, but those guys are depth pieces (or like Coghlan, a reserve) that are fetching replacements. I really don't think a guy like Jarvis or even Noeson (who has more points than Jarvis in fewer games and less TOI) would be going the other way and the rest of the roster are either to valuable as puzzle pieces or just can't be moved at all.

A Leafs fan just offered Robertson and a '24 1st for Meier. 🤭

Sure it would be nice to not have to give up any of your good prospects but sadly Sharks have to decline

this looks like a lot but to me it looks like a lot of C/B- grade prospects who are not able to even crack your roster and i doubt there is 46 goals a season if you combine every player and pick on this board. you don’t get Elite 26 year old Wingers for scraps. sorry but no.

Gunler is our best W prospect right now, though he's not great overall. It might be one of our centers Ponomarev or Rees (if not both) instead of Gunler, but I thought that the trade might match positions?

Koivunen is a better prospect than Gunler

Timo trade is a lot of quantity but not much quality. Core piece is a 25 first which isn’t appealing. A lot of solid prospects but nobody sharks would be excited about. Realistically it’ll take 23 first and probably either Nikishin or morrow plus another decent piece like a second rounder or B prospect. That might be too much but that’s what it probably takes.

I really like the Bennett idea and made a couple posts about it. Not sure if cats will sell if they fall back and even if they did Bennett might not be someone they want to move on from. If they did you can take out the staals. I get the nostalgia but realistically that doesn’t help the locker room by removing guys like Stepan and CDH and doesn’t help on the ice either. Fans don’t need to get behind making a push, majority are already behind it. It’s more likely we’ll be upset in the moment if we don’t do enough. Otherwise it’s probably gonna take the 24 first plus a couple of lesser pieces I’d imagine. Maybe a third and a guy like Suzuki.
