Description
This might be a bit much for the deadline, but everything is pretty logical. The Klingberg move is iffy so let me know your thoughts.

After the season:

Graves at 4 x $4 after the season is possible.
Bratt at 8 x $8 after the season is possible.
Schmid replaces Reimer
Hughes and Nemec come up
Transactions
1.
NJD
  1. Meier, Timo (3 000 000 $ retained)
  2. Reimer, James (1 125 000 $ retained)
Détails additionnels:
Meier signs an 8 x $8.5 extension, if NJ is truly his preferred destination this is a reasonable expectation.
SJS
  1. Blackwood, Mackenzie
  2. Holtz, Alexander
  3. Okhotiuk, Nikita
  4. Choix de 1e ronde en 2023 (NJD)
  5. Choix de 4e ronde en 2023 (NJD)
2.
NJD
  1. Höglander, Nils
  2. Schenn, Luke
  3. Choix de 4e ronde en 2023 (VAN)
Détails additionnels:
It is well known that Hoglander wants out of Vancouver, so taking a chance on him could be worth a shot. Schenn provides more grit for the playoff run.
VAN
  1. Severson, Damon
  2. Choix de 6e ronde en 2023 (NJD)
Détails additionnels:
Vancouver has been tied to Severson for a while and it seems this separation has been coming. I am really not sure on a Severson extension, but 6 x $5.5 sounds reasonable I think?
3.
NJD
  1. Klingberg, John (3 500 000 $ retained)
Détails additionnels:
Kilinberg has had a pretty miserable year so his value is not going to be high. He would play extremely sheltered minutes and QB PP2, might be a good fit for this team.
ANA
  1. Wood, Miles
  2. Choix de 2e ronde en 2023 (NJD)
Détails additionnels:
Not sure about this fit, but Anaheim needs players and draft capital soooooo...

Agree with the SJ deal except no retention on a reimer since we are taking blackwoods full contract.

Canucks aren’t paying assets for a rental. And where has it been said it’s well known Hoglander wants out? I haven’t seen anything about that

Swap Okhotiuk for one of NJ's good RD prospects. SJ has a logjam at LD while NJ has a logjam at RD, so it's a perfect marriage for NJ to send a RD to SJ. Muk or Casey obviously preferred. Walsh is another option.

Smith provides that veteran presence/grit already and Severson>Klingberg. Plus depending on the L Hughes situation going into the playoffs I think our defense is gonna be fine. The only thing this team needs at tdl is a top 6 winger. Also BMW line has been good to us even recently with their offensive struggles.

If you count the 2022 draft up to 2024 (3 drafts) the Ducks have/had 4 first round picks and 7 second round picks While obviously rebuilding teams need draft capital, if it isnt a 1st I could see Verbeek preferring prospects to picks, especially for Klingberg

Wood 100% fits the mold of what Verbeek seems to value, but him turning 28 next year puts him out of our compete window so he wouldnt have much value to us in a trade, he'd essentially be like Aston-Reese and Simon from the Rakell deal last year

Also I dont think Klingberg should be targeted by the devils, Kulikov, or even Shattenkirk are much better fits imo

Severson is not viewed as a rental here hence the extension, as per Hoglander, I thought I saw months ago that he wanted out due to playing time issues, etc, I admittedly do not follow Vancouver closely, so is this totally off?

I haven’t seen anything about Hoglander ever wanting out. He’s in the AHL to get more playing time since we had too many wingers at the NHL level. Also I still don’t think the Canucks should be trading assets for Severson, even if he comes with an extension. If they really want him they should just go for him in free agency
