Not enough for Larkin, whats the point behind the Mayfeild swap?, and that offer gets outdone by someone else. Murray and Holl will cost an additional first to move out.

A pending UFA in Kerfoot, A prospect that's 2-3 years in Minten on top he's a 3C and a 2024 1st round pick 2 drafts away and we retain 50% on Larkin. Once again it's a joke of an offer. Hell Patrick Kane gets more than this worthless crap. Once again Detroit passes with extreme prejudice.

Seems to reason you think this deal is a bit lopsided. Would throwing in a 2026 7th round pick pique your interest and change your mind? Asking for a Leafs friend.

That Chychrun trade is something else. A bunch of cap dumps and roster clearing moves, Niemela, and a late 1st for a top 4 D with a good contract, a decent goalie, and a good middle 6 C . Call me crazy, but I'm fairly certain there are about 20 other teams that can do better for Chychrun.

It's lopsided by a country mile, Kerfoot's value = 3rd round pick Minten has 0 value to us plus a 1st 2 drafts away for Larkin at 50% This has to be one of the worst Larkin trades yet.

So...a 6th round pick in 2026 then? Remember also Leafs prospects are somehow much better than any other prospects. You can also have Dermott, since he is untouchable and gonna be soooò good...oh wait...woops.

You're right Larkin is better than Horvat, Larkin is a solid 200 foot Center. The only thing Horvat has on Larkin is he's a little better at putting the puck in the net. Larkin is more of a play maker than a sniper.

I have to disagree with parts of this take. Up until this season, Horvat was basically deployed as a shutdown 2C, and he was very good at that. Iirc, no forward in the last 3 seasons (prior to this one) had more D zone starts than Horvat. He was also good on faceoffs. For whatever reason, this season Horvat is getting a lot of offensive starts, and he is being rewarded; his shooting percentage is a good helper too.

Larkin is indeed a better playmaker. I'd argue that Horvat, based on body of work and not just thus year, is better defensively, but Larkin is better offensively. If I already had a 1C, I'd probably take Horvat to anchor the 2C and be one of the best shutdown centers in the league. If I didn't have a true 1C, I'd take Larkin all the way. Larkin is better overall, but Horvat offers something that is harder to come by. I will say, 8.5 is an overpay for Horvat, and Larkin now sees that and says 9-9.5.
