I don't think trading Demko is the play unless we get a crazy over pay like Clarke+ out of LA

I prefer traded out East but if LAK overpay yes. I don’t see Demko moving but if a team is serious then make a strong offer.

I asked for Kulich/2nd

I don't mind any of these trades, but trading for Demko would pretty much mean Levi isn't gonna sign here.

Goalies don't exactly have tremendous value in trades. Especially goalies who make 5 million, have term, are hurt and have recent struggles.

Its gonna be a top 40 pick to a rebuilding team

Why would Levi want to sign here with UPL & Demko signed for 3 years?

Well, for starters, he will sign in April, this trade will happen in June or July.

Also UPL is only signed through 23-24.

Also, Levi isn't walking into an NHL job, he will spend atleast a full year in AHL, likely more.

We aren't going to let our NHL team on the verge of playoff contention stall to cater to a college goalie who would need to delay his contract by 2 years to not sign

"Well, for starters, he will sign in April, this trade will happen in June or July." That would make this trade make less sense. If Levi is signing why trade for a goalie signed for another 3 years? This is the kind of move you make if Levi just doesn't want to sign here.

"Also UPL is only signed through 23-24." UPL has several years of team control. He's been playing decent. He's gonna be here for at least 3 more years.

"Also, Levi isn't walking into an NHL job, he will spend atleast a full year in AHL" Likely one season in the AHL & playing NHL games the year after. He can't really do that with Demko & UPL unless an injury happens.

"We aren't going to let our NHL team on the verge of playoff contention stall to cater to a college goalie who would need to delay his contract by 2 years to not sign" That's fine, but trying to acquire a goalie that's signed long term is risking damaging the relationship with that goalie. Levi isn't gonna be interested in playing in the AHL for 3 years with some occasional call ups.

You're gonna have to pick between trading for Demko or signing Levi

There's a reason why Adams didn't want to go after a goalie signed long term & has repeatedly said he doesn't want to block the young guys from the lineup.

A young highly touted center and a goal scorer who can be flipped for more assets and a 1st round pick? Ok?

another small forward to go with our already full infinity gauntlet of small forward prospects and Kevin Labanc 2.0 who the athletic has as a 2.2 million overpay. Can't have too many centers, but idk if you are getting a first for oloffson

Ok? Even if you get a 2nd that's a 1st, 2nd and a high prospect for Meier. Who is giving you more?

prolly just get that offer without having to retain on another player to get a pick that high when we would still have the burns retention and a potential karlsson retention in the offseason and we would probably also try to move labanc while his value is the highest its been in 3 years which would also require retention. The value of the trade is fine, just the package doesn't quite make sense for the sharks
