Description

Don't pay attention to the trades/transactions - doing this fast to look at $

Looking at potential max-deal scenarios. Cap space dries up quickly if you go high-end on Meier and Bratt. That leaves Tatar, Severson and Wood out of a job. I'm assuming we roll with a decent backup (doesn't have to be Blackwood) so maybe you can save a little there vs. relying on Schmid.

Top 6 is stacked but bottom is pretty weak.

I think if Blackwood returns, it will be on 1-year deal (possibly on his $3.36 qualifying offer). Good chance he is dealt after season or simply not tendered an offer and becomes an unrestricted free agent.

Sharangovich should either get a 1-year deal or some term. Two years would take him directly to UFA. At least with one year, we could still have one more bite of the apple in summer 2024. His QO is $2.05 million. If he signed 3-4 years, he is probably close to $4m.

Same for both Bastian and McLeod. Zetterlund will have an extra year until we hit is UFA years, but due to limited games, probably gets a 1-year extension.

(As for Meier trade…if he wants $9.5m…it is probably not far off).

(As for Meier trade…if he wants $9.5m…it is probably not far off).

I like the 1yr idea for YS - maximum cap flexibility and if he's not playing top-6 consistently, no need to overpay - let him duke it out w/Mercer. Also, hopefully the cap goes up a lot in 2 years.

I'm pretty ok with bottom six (other than Foote)
Smith is a good #7 but I wonder if we should have some assurances. Not totally convinced Nenec will be a starter early next season. If not moved is there any chance it's Muk? Otherwise what about a trade of Dante Fabbro (he's done in Nsh) and Jeannot (upcoming rfa) for our 2nd plus stuff?
On the above $ I think both TM and JB a bit less than posted and agree with what yiu said 10506 has done with yrs/$
