Laughton and Murphy trades looks like an overpay but Laughton plays smart defensive game with good offensive output. Murphy on the other hand gets shelled in on Chicago but think of Denis Savard on CBJ. When he plays with a defensive partner that offensive inclined he’ll shut the other team down when they’re in transition.

I personally don’t see the Leafs go after Meier or any of the other big names. I think they’ll do what Tampa did in 2020 to get over the hump. Pay large prices for cost controlled assets that can compliment a talented core

It looks like an overpay but when he plays in Toronto it won’t be. Laughton has a great game that’ll suit the bottom 6 and help drive play. It’ll bring great depth scoring in the playoffs plus he can penalty kill and etc.
