As a habs fan, I wouldn't be interested in this. Tavares has 1 year left and could walk if the habs don't meet his contract demands, which will be a lot. Galchenyuk and Sergachev should be a big part of this team going forward and will be a lot cheaper for many more years.

IF this is true and does happen, the $7.2M with Plekanec and Mitchell (perhaps let them both walk) coming off the books should be split to cover raises for Tavares and Price. This roster for 2017-18 also is incomplete. You do however have $17.1M for up to five more players so no issue there.

Of course this trade would only be done if it's a "trade and signed" . Yes its a lot and yes the habs management want to keep sergachev. But défense is not so bad right now and Tavares would automatically make us contender! It's a lot . In the long run we may lose the trade, but I would do the trade in a heartbeat. JT as a habs would be a dream . But I don't see it happening
