Probably one of the best Koneckny offers I've seen.

Pretty fair value, however isn;t portillo looking at UFA? Aren;t his rights expiring and hes told the team hes going to UFA (ala RJ Umberger?) Its also maybe not the position they need. Hart, Sandstrom, Errson have all shown good game this year and are all young (Fedotov got held in Russia), so maybe Portillo doesn;t add much.

And maybe slightly worrying about the return is that every BUF fan seems to be moving LD Ryan Johnson (and PHI has Provorov, Sanheim, York, Zamula, Seeler, Hogberg, Ginning at LD already, which lessens how PHI sees Johnson) in trades and Mittelstadt is hard to analyze, as hes had some ups/downs and injuries and his expiring 2.5mil RFA status probably means you're overpaying to see if he can continue to be good.

Overall alot of good in that trade, and maybe one of the best value deals for Koneckny, but the prospects/player all have a bit of a caveat about them or some play positions NOT in need in PHI.

Seattle trade makes no sense for either team. Philly and pretty much everyone on this site understand that Johnson and Portillo are UFA at the end of the year, so that's not much of an over pay, but I'd want to see how they could work that deal out

Both Portillo and Johnson can go UFA in July and are not likely to sign in Buffalo. That's why theyre always being traded

Yeah, I thought so. Mittlestadt and two 2nds are a nice start, but as I said above Portillo and Johnson dont play positions in need to PHI (as well as both being available in UFA). So its not really an overpay, unless you have faith is in Mittelstadt.

PHI would have to be wow'ed And I don’t know if Mittlestadt and 2 2nds is enough, (Mittelstadt does play a position of need, but his contract status/demands are a concern). Its also that PHI doesn’t have to move Koneckny, hes 25 yrs old, coming off a second stellar season in a row (the top 6 full of injuries/the team cant score, but Koneckny can), he has 3 yrs left at a bargain salary, but most importantly, hes exactly the player you build a team WITH, not around, but WITH.

So PHI would have to get a pretty amazing return for them, I would think they’d be hard pressed to say no to Mittelstadt and THREE 2nds.
