Perhaps Cuyllee or Z Jones would be required to haul in Gavrikov. Many are saying he would command at least a first. I would think Cuyllee AND Jones plus a 2nd would be enough

The CBL passes on the Gavrikov trade.

Rangers doesn't have the cap space for Timo Meier long term so he's a rental, And that offer would be easily beaten by teams like New Jersey and others.

You can do retention here. And you're over the cap by some $5,600,000 good luck with that.

Add laf and San Jose would consider. As it is now it’s not close to Timo without retention let alone with it

Actually, not really. By the TDL, Rangers will have accumulated $6.-7M in cap space to add players. If you net these trades out (it is under that number). Yes, he's a rental, but any team that acquires him will be able to recoup assets next summer by trading his RFA rights. I'm assuming you meant CBJ rejects trade. What then will he command? a first and a second. They would have to consider a package that includes the 23 2nd and Cuyllee and Zac Jones.

valid point. I don't think Rangers part with their underperforming 1OA for a rental. Sub in a 3rd rounder for the 4th AND include a prospect like Zac Jones or Will Cuylee and I think the deal absolutely gets done. Even the 1st + Krav (10th overall RFA that is progressing) + a 3rd could be enough. Obviously all depends what Devs or other suitors can offer

It doesn’t have to be Laf, the point of saying that is that the offer is far off. Kravtsov is a 4th liner and the 1st is likely late. That doesn’t get a top line rfa winger. Andrew Copp got more last year as a ufa and he had never scored 30 goals or 40 points even in a season at that time

Sure. I guess Samuel Blais might be useful in Belleville. Would hate for Ottawa to waste time playing Blais when they could be assessing where guys like Greig, Sokolov, Lodin, etc. are at.

Valid points, although I think the TDL market last year was exceptionally hot. Kravstov is not a 4th liner, granted he's not a proven top sixer yet. SJS would be able to sign him cheaply and would undoubtedly slot him into their top 9, if not six. Your point about the low first rounder is valid. Rangers unwilling to part with Othmann, but let's say the package also included our 2024 first and a D prospect or Will Cuyllee (so a 23 1st, a 24 1st, a former 10OA playing in his first NHL season, plus a 2nd round prospect. Would that get it done? I think so.

Blais is a reclamation project. IMO, needs another offseason to regain his skating. Sens can re-sign him for league minimum and he'll be happy playing up there

Also, important to note, the Copp trade was for two conditional 2nd round picks (one that converted to a first because we made the ECF), Morgan Barron (a 2nd round prospect equivalent like Will Cuyllee), and a 5th rounder. So the above package I lay out is substantially better (to reiterate: two 1sts, a former 10OA that still projects as a top 9, and 2nd round propect equivalent). I would be willing to bet that the deal would end up being the above but instead of two 1sts, a conditional 2nd (that converts to a first).

I think putting in that Kravtsov was once the 10th overall is moot because he isn’t playing like it now. At best I think he’s a 3rd liner. I think two 1sts should for sure get it done, can’t see why it wouldn’t. If there’s a prospect or young player included they would want a C or likely RD which are the greatest positional needs in the org. Huge log jam at LD of not high end guys but nonetheless NHLers.

I'd rather blais play on the 4th replacing Watson than Prospects playing on the 4th line

The Senators take up too many roster spots in their bottom 6 with guys who can't put up points. It's a habit I would like to see us break, not continue.

The last thing out bottom 6 needs is a guy who hasn't scored in 56 games. Which is longer than anyone currently in our bottom 6.
If this is the best offer on the table I'd take it for the 3rd rounder, but I have no interest in extending Blais so I'd rather look at our prospects.
If we can flip Blais for a late pick, great, if not, I'd send him to BEL and play Crookshank or Reinhardt once Watson gets moved.

I thought they were LW and blais is a RW since we have Boucher as a RW in the system.

Blais has played RW but, like Crooker and Reinhardt, is a left hand shot.
