Description

Obviously, this all hangs on Hawks getting #1 overall. Have to reach the cap floor somehow. Go after a big name to at least get the team out of dead last. Larkin is a perfect fit between Kane and Bedard to retrieve pucks on the boards and still skilled enough to keep up with them. That line alone is enough for me to be entertained every game even if we lose more than half the time again. This team is so top heavy, they’d still end up with a top 10 pick… which is exactly what you want next year. Then just think, the following year you have Nazar slot into 2C behind Larkin and Domi drops to 3C where he probably belongs. It’s perfect and not to mention Larkin gets paid! AND we still have 12M in space to take on some bad contracts for draft capital.

I'm pretty sure they want to be bad for another season, maybe two. These upcoming drafts are supposed to all be pretty decent. If they can get a top 5 pick these next 3 drafts they'll be in a really good spot. Look at McDavid, Bedard can't do it on his own.

I get they want to be bad, and I think this team I displayed still is bad. Like bottom 8 bad. But we have to hit the cap floor somehow and this just sets everything up perfectly for the future players coming in the next 2 years, as well.

The great thing about my whole post, is we still have 12 mil left over. So fine, I’ll give Larkin another 2.5 per to get him away from Detroit. I don’t think ANYONE would mind playing between Kaner and Bedard on a bad team for 1-2 years until we start getting good again. Even I could score 20 points in an NHL season if I was playing with those two guys on a line 😂

You still basically have a 1 in 4 chance of landing Connor Bedard, And if Kane is traded he's not signing back with a full rebuilding team. Larkin isn't leaving a better situation in his hometown for the likes of Chicago who's in full tear down mode.
