The Sabres don't need Chychrun

You’re giving all that up for a guy who you’d put on the 3rd pair?!
Seems crazy to me

I fully understand wanting to upgrade from Bryson,
but we can do that A LOT cheaper
Send PIT a 3rd for Dumoulin (for example)

Or use 1 of our extra 2nds to upgrade the spot
Keep in mind, our 3rd pair LD is gonna play 15min or less most nights

Please invest and get a shutdown d. More cost more results

I’d like to see a 2nd pair RD brought in to pair with Power
Someone like Murphy from Chicago or Savard from MTL could be a good fit

That moves Jokiharju down to 3rd pair
Ideally, we’d bring in an upgrade over Bryson as well

Murphy absolutely. Dumoulin and Savard both over 30. Soucy or Gavrikov younger and better
Except Luke Schenn. He gets better every year

i dont really see it as a third pair, I see it as a way to keep dahlin and power under 28 mins a night without putting out a pair that gets absolutely shelled. If chycs pair is going they play the most, if powers is they play the most

Power plays best with partner who he can make plays off of instead of a shutdown guy, it is why he looks so much better with clague than he does with lybush

Power has been here for half a season
I don’t think we know what fits best with him yet
If Jokiharju “fits” better than a guy like Savard/Murphy/etc, then that’ll just make the 3rd pair all that much stronger

Although ideally, the Dahlin pair & Power pair will each be playing 20+ minutes a night
That means we *should* only need the 3rd pair for 10-15min a night

I think we should be able to find guys to make that pair strong enough to play more minutes IF NEEDED
But that should cost us SIGNIFICANTLY LESS than Chychrun would
