Some center starved team overpays ROR in more years than this. Staal would come back before Bjugstad. Also plenty of goalie starved teams will give Varlamov more money. NJ or Buffalo are two easy choices.

Yea, i was thinking more of going the offer sheet route. But if we were to trade for him, i could see something based around Drury and our 23 1st. But I agree, they shouldn't trade him unless they got some massive overpayment. Kind of reminds me of Necas heading into last season, having a down year heading into a contract year. If i were the Rangers i would just bridge him to around 3-4 mil like the Canes did Necas. But i could see a team (ahem, montreal) overpaying for him in a trade.

This is interesting because of NYR's cap situation. Miller, Chytil, Kravtsov are all free agents. Not including them, they'd have to pay/replace Blais, Halak, Hajek, Harpur, Vesey and Gauthier. They don't have a ton of space either. They could be forced not to match, and for this package, I think it could be something. Nice idea.
