What is the plan if you don't make the playoffs this year? You don't want prospects and picks, you aren't competing, and you have 8 pending UFAs. Assuming you don't just keep all of them and let them walk for nothing what would you want back?

Who said I don;t want prospects and picks? Blais and Kravtsov are not prospects. Jones is a nice enough prospect, but the Blues already have too many small LDs. Everybody is just trying to throw the pieces they don't want in these trades instead of offering things the Blues would actually want. And yes, the Blues are still in compete mode, they are not going to tank a season in December. You can think that's smart or dumb, but that's how the franchise operates. They don't just throw in the towel and quit when there's adversity, especially when most of their problems are fixable.

I guess more of a retool makes sense, but I think you will have a hard time moving Tarasenko/ROR and getting back NHL talent in their prime or top prospects because they are both rentals.
