That’s what people said when Tampa traded 2 1st, radysh and kuchouk for hagel.

No they didn't. I still think it was an overpay but not as badly as I did then admittedly.if Crouse was making 1.5 like Hagel sure, but he doesn't and they can't afford 4.3 with the three amigos extension kicking in.

Who was the last TDL piece TB brought in costing them over 2 million? McDonagh and Miller before that can't really think of one.

Does Callahan count?

I think Tampa has shown they aren’t afraid to find discount players if it means their top 9 is better and their top 4 d is enough.. because in playoffs that’s normally all they use

Not really they had to trade St. Louis actually they regularly role 3 pairings in the playoffs especially in the Bubble Hedman+Shattenkirk/Rutta Mac-Cernak Sergachev -Rutta/Bogosian/Schenn all rolled regularly

I’m sure I’m wrong about the specific players involved but the idea is normally what jbb does.. but as a Tampa fan who thinks one of the most overrated players in the league is killorn, I’ll just be happy if/when he’s gone.. he should have to pay cirelli 50% of his salary for carrying him all these years.. and now Paul

They did not role last year or the year before.. sergy regularly has not had a set partner in playoffs.. which makes his development even more impressive

Mac-cherny
Hedman-rutes
Sergy playing with anyone (savard barely saw the ice and bogo and schenn regularly scratch)

Look at his stats away from cirelli through his career and the eye test of how much he hooks and grabs and how often he just falls down with no one around or the fact his skating has to be worse on the team.. maroon is a better skater. clearly a wagoner

That's not true the year before 21 was mostly Hedman Savard/Rutta, Mac Cernak Sergachev Savard/Schenn Foote

Interesting.. Foote is young, has been in a winning culture and I’d argue just as good as peeke with a higher ceiling but just been buried

Then a top 9 forward who needs more nhl development because has done everything he can in the ahl

Foote is less than a year younger than Peeke, and with significantly less experience. I get TBL’s D is tougher for a young guy to get a roster spot for, but Foote is old enough that he can’t rely on the young guy/prospect tag anymore and is more a fringe-NHLer/ D depth than he is a middle-pairing guy.

ABB has gone through waivers twice. If CBJ wanted him, they could’ve had him for free.

Peeke is further along in his development at nearly the same age so we'd easily prefer him - that, and Cal's father kind of screwed us over in the past, so the name Foote is not an appreciated one here.

As for Barre-Boulet, he might be interesting, but frankly when I look at him (and I'll admit I'm going by what scouting and video I can find online) he looks to me like a AAAA player - great in the AHL, but can't seem to translate to the NHL. We've got a guy or two like that already (most notably Fix-Wolansky). If Kekalainen thinks differently, maybe he might be of interest, but I don't see that being the impetus that makes a Peeke trade happen.
