I think TB does this, but what about a bigger trade for Schenn and Kuzmenko. What would that look like in your opinion(provided that Kuzmenko was available)?

Kuzmenko would cost a 2nd and a 3rd minimum. He's a high impact winger on a dirt cheap contract, even as a rental, that holds legitimate value

Oh I agree, I created another thread where I proposed Tampa's '25 1st, a 3rd in '24 maybe, Foote and a solid prospect(who could be negotiated), for Kuzmenko and Schenn. It's probably a little steep on Tampa's end, but if a bidding war takes place, who knows.

I also think Tampa only pays a high price for Kuzmenko if they believe they can re-sign him. I think they'd still be interested if just a rental, but what they would be willing to part with would be less imo.

At least I'm not asking for a 1st. They couldn't re-sign Rutta or Palat, what are the chances they can re-sign Kuzmenko? Alex Killorn is probably gone after this season, don't really see a way to hold onto him beyond this season

They could've held on to Rutta but didn't want to commit to the extra years. It was between Palat and Killorn, but Killorn still had one year left. I agree that the odds of Kuz re-signing would be slim, since I'm sure they'll try and keep Killorn(doubtful). Maybe something ljke '24 2nd, '23 3rd, 7th+Foote for Kuzmenko and Schenn(retained). Tampa would.either have to send some $ back or make another trade to make the cap work.

And TBs right side plays less in general they don't use a RD on the PP so that's between 6-10 mpg TB has no RD that leaves less time to eat up

What exactly is it that’s wrong about KK’s contact? He will be a 3C for under 5m. You could make the argument that Horvat is in line for an equally bad next contract considering he’s scoring goals at a career high pace he likely won’t continue or duplicate. Canes aren’t trading for a rental so Horvat needs an extension.

Horvat as a 2C at 8m until he’s in his mid 30s should be perceived as bad if you’re considering KK’ s as bad (4.82m until he’s 30). Then consider you’re giving up two premium assets on top?

I just feel like you could get a better 3C at that price, and someone at that salary you’d like to produce better offensively than he has. Obviously he’s young enough to progress into a better offensive player, but not sure if I’d wanna take that risk
