I think he's got every right to chase the bag or go to a team that's shown playoff success.

No cup contending team will have the space to sign the contract he wants so if he is ok going to a middle of the pact team with potential to being in a playoff race, then he can go for it. He shouldn't expect teams like Colorado or Tampa to make insane offers

I think for this sort of thought process to even enter the equation, Matthews would have to be extended. If not, ROR is looking at a very possible situation where he takes a four year team friendly, and is only a contender for one of those years.
