Seems more like a trade deadline day valuation in that Tanev deal, rather than draft day price.

Tanev trade may be closer to right than people think. Dallas isn't a team that spends the cap. They have an eternal budget and buying out either goalie hurts a fair bit. Especially when you consider Benn, Seguin and Bishop make almost half of their payroll from last year next year (actual salary not cap hit). This is where the Canucks can use their financial flexibility to buy a better trade. Honestly I think it costs a minimum of the Columbus pick on top of what you have but that still gives the Canucks some top end young players and an early 3rd rnd pick.
I don't see Arizona doing that trade unless they really like a center and are worried Vegas wants him. After drafting Vilardi at 3 everyone knows the Canucks won't be taking a center at 5.

Tanev trade looks very close to what I think will happen. That is the value JB should be looking for.
