Description
Obviously not realistic as I don't think Yzerman after the offseason they had want to extend the rebuild any further and would rather try to stay competitive.

I actually hope the extend Bertuzzi and Maatta.

Forgot to mention that Bertuzzi agrees to an extension in New Jersey.
All trades other than the Boeser trade are at the deadline.

Even though many of the players in IR will be healthy I'm just making the line up with them still out.
Transactions
1.
DET
  1. Johnsson, Andreas
  2. Sharangovich, Yegor
  3. Walsh, Reilly
  4. Choix de 1e ronde en 2023 (NJD)
Détails additionnels:
Johnsson for cap purposes so Detroit doesn't have to retain.
This might likely be too much but I would like to see Walsh get a chance in the NHL and I just don't think that would happen in Jersey.
The first is late and I feel like Jersey could actually make some noise in the playoffs.
NJD
  1. Bertuzzi, Tyler
  2. Oesterle, Jordan
Détails additionnels:
Bertuzzi doesn't take anymore shots in his hand and returns to the form he had last season.
Oesterle is just a throw in to give the Devils some extra depth on defence for the playoffs.
2.
DET
  1. Bourgault, Xavier
  2. Puljujärvi, Jesse
  3. Choix de 1e ronde en 2023 (EDM)
Détails additionnels:
Detroit takes a chance on JP for a reclamation project, he resigns.
EDM
  1. Kubalik, Dominik
  2. Määttä, Olli (1 125 000 $ retained)
Détails additionnels:
Acquiring Kubalik gives Edmonton some better scoring depth.
3.
DET
  1. Choix de 2e ronde en 2023 (CGY)
CGY
  1. Sundqvist, Oskar
  2. Choix de 4e ronde en 2024 (DAL)
4.
DET
  1. Boeser, Brock
Détails additionnels:
Trade made in December.
VAN
  1. Suter, Pius
  2. Tuomisto, Antti [Liste de réserve]
Détails additionnels:
Suter to be traded at deadline or retained to fill 3C role, possibly fill the void of Horvat doesn't return.
Tuomisto is a nice RHD prospect that is playing good hockey in Europe right now, not flashy but plays a good game.

No knock on Sharangovich just wanted to include a younger roster player and Bertuzzi comes with an extension as stated in the description.

Alex Holtz would be a better choice for Detroit. We need right shooters much more than lefties.

How about Holtz insteaad of Sharangovich?

Devils wouldn't trade a blue chip prospect for a guy like Bertuzzi.
More likely Holtz'd be the main piece in a Meier or Keller deal.

I think he would have too much value for a Bertuzzi trade.

Considering there is another year at 2.5M and the way Maatta is playing I think it would have to be a 2023 1st. Something that could possibly be negotiated is the retention on Maatta and swap it with Kubalik since Detroit would technically extending its rebuild using a retention slot next year wouldn't be that big of a deal.

Devils are very unlikely to trade for rentals, way too early in their competitive cycle to do that.
Besides, Sharangovich will have an important role to play in this Devils team for many years to come.
There's no real fit for the Devils in making this trade, and the value favours Detroit quite a lot.

Bert will sign and won't be a rental.

Nope, I think the oilers need to add anyway especially with retention. If kubalik continues his current pace he alone will be worth that package from the oilers. Add a prospect or another pick to what Detroit is getting.

Trades are reasonable all though I think Edmonton needs to add, maybe take away the retention. I'd rather see a 1st and bourgault for kuby as long as he keeps up his top 6, 80+ point 30+ goal pace. Also sundquist has more value in the postseason so remove the 4th going the other way.

I don't disagree, just didn't want to make them too lopsided like the Bertuzzi trade. I'm also quite high on Bourgault.

Right, here are some other reasons why the Devils shouldn't trade for Bert.
Quoting: Tintin
I don't think there's any shape of a Bertuzzi trade that works for the Devils.
Noted on the extension, that could resolve the 'not-trading-for-rentals' bit.
But I think trading for a guy like Bertuzzi is the wrong approach for the Devils (and I think management feels similarly) extension or not, as it would mean the Devils would have to part with either 1st rd picks or non-UFA roster forwards to make it work which in turn would make the Devils older and shorten their competitive window.
There's no need for the Devils to trade for a top 6 wing at this point in time, say nothing of when Palat (and Bastian) returns from injury.
And in the off-season there's nothing stopping them to gauge the FA market for any holes in their forward lineup (Kuzmenko, Bunting, Tarasenko etc) while keeping all the assets they'd have to give in a Bertuzzi trade.

It just doesn't make sense for the Devils to trade for Bert, I really hope they don't.

None of that has anything to do with trading for a gritty, top 6, play driving winger. You never know when one of your wingers will get injured. Bertuzzi excels in the post season.
