I'm not really sure what the pens are gonna be looking for at the deadline this year. The team has been so up and down it's hard to pinpoint a need. When they are playing well, it's hard to find a hole they might need to fill, but when they are not, there are so many holes you don't know where to start.

I think the bottom 6 right now is the best place to look for improvement. The defense has looked very bad at times this year, but I think they will figure it out and be fine with what they have. A boost to bottom 6 scoring could be what pushes this team over the top.

Toews gives the pens a big scoring boost in the bottom 6 and is more than capable of filling in if Sid or Geno get hurt and can kill penalties which has been an area of concern this year. Also a very good faceoff guy and has won before.

MacEwan is a high energy guy that has been scoring fairly well on the Philly 4th line this year and wouldn't cost much to acquire. Adds some punch back against teams that try to run over the pens and can also play center if needed.
