Description
Short Kings, be gone from the defense.

Bring me every available defenseman over 6'5" and 220 lbs, for the love of all that is holy, just protect our goalie.

Look, its getting really hard to watch Ducks games, between seemingly getting screwed by the zebras at every turn, we are also letting our goalies get pummeled. The experiment with this many puck moving defenseman has failed, we need to load up on size and grit. Go back to the 2003 formula where we collapse the slot and let nothing, and no one, through.

Edmundson is going for way more than that! Teams were already calling Hughes in the offseason while he had his back issues. The reason he wasnt dealt was the injury concern and the young blueline. Both questions have been answered. It will a 1st plus a prospect. Cant imagine it goes less than Chiarot with a reasonable deal, only a year beyond this season

1st vs 2nd pairing isn't of much importance, simply that he will be paired with Fowler. Looking at ~22 minutes/night target, spread the defensive time out a bit more evenly.

You seem to forgot Chairot went with 50% retention, and doesn't have the injury history that Edmondson has, and Chairot is the better player. The 1st round pick was protected, and the prospect was a lottery piece, not blue chip. Sure, he is healthy right now, but that history does dent his value. LAstly, Florida overpayed for everyone last TDL, they were making it rain with 1st round picks assuming they would be 31+ overall for the next three years. Chairot is not an applicable benchmark to use.

If you don't like the deal I'll go get Bahl from New Jersey.

You're right about retention. It's part of why MTL got so much for Chiarot.

However, FLO 2023 1st is unprotected, and could very well be a lottery pick with all the injuries they have.

If Edmundson is traded, it will be something close to a 1st and a B prospect. Maybe Ducks 2nd, since it's probably gonna be high, would be considered.

I'd be much more willing to consider ANA 2nd in 23 than a 1st, as we are likewise in the race for Bedard.

Really, I am just trying to get Gibson and Stolarz some help, those poor guys are getting brutalized out there. We know this team has talent, and we are watching teams who are "supposed" to be bad excel, and other teams who are "supposed" to be good falter.

We knew we weren't going to be good, but we expected it not to be masochistic.

Ok. If you're going to be that guy with direct reply. First off, the 1st rounder wasnt protected. Its an unprotected 1st from Florida. You may want to go back to the trade because you didnt even get your facts straight. Chiarot better than Edmundson lol Im not going any further with this troll post

It was a conditional 22 with top 10 protection, that Florida had the option to retain, at which point it was an unprotected 23, unless they didn't have the 23, at which point it became an unprotected 24. They chose to retain and shipped that pick off to Buffalo, but continue to leave out key details, really makes you look like you know what you're talking about.

Florida made a lot of mistakes last year and overpayed for Chiarot, and part of that overpayment justification was flexibility in pick choice and salary retention.

Edmundson would be great to protect your goalies, and would be a good leader for your team.

A fair trade could be ANA 2023 1st top 16 protected for Edmundson. If they miss the playoffs, it become ANA 2023 2nd.

I am intrigued. This could be interesting for both teams. Anaheim has some offense, which is new for us, its being complete liabilities on defense that is torpedoing us. If we had Edmundson and the other big, shutdown D above, played early 2000s style hockey, could we make the playoffs with way the west is shaking out? Can a significant reduction in redirects and slot shots return our goalies to 0.910+, and does that seriously propel us up the standings? Worst case, we pay a 2nd round pick to bring in some protection for Gibson and Stolarz, at least we lessen their pain. Best case, we make it to the dance, even if we get bounced in the first round, it would be considered a win. Edmundson could be a significant calming voice on the back end, and he and Myers could help train up/ shelter Vaakainen and Helleson next season.

I might counter offer with one of the middle 2nds in 23 and a B grade prospect or an additional mid round pick, but I am not opposed to the idea you put forth.
LIRIK a aimé ceci.

I think I’d really like something like:

Tyler Myers ($1,500,000 retained) and a 23 3rd for FC &
Ryan Graves for Boston’s 23 2nd and Axel Andersson (new contract extension for Graves as part of the deal as well)

There are several Canuck fans on here who seem to disagree with you, and swapping a 2nd for a 3rd is hardly a payment.
