3 - On-ice xG is still a six-person stat. What do you expect on this team the way they're playing?

He has not been the cause of cave-ins this season, no matter how many analytics you throw out. Have you watched the games? He's one of the few players that has stayed on the right system page, and his linemates have been routinely letting him down.

I’m not saying he’s the problem, I’m saying he stinks and has no business being on the first line. Over the last 60 games he’s 41.57% XG. I will jump for joy when we trade him for a 2nd round pick.

Just for the record, in 257 career 5v5 minutes with ROR, he sports a 17-8 (68%) in GF percentage, and has six goals and seven primary assists (or just over 3 P/60). Playing Barby up short term for a specific role purpose has actually worked wonderfully for him and the team, and this time in particular it had the exact desired effect of keeping teams from flogging ROR's line with goals against (FYI, ROR has had a 60% and 70% xG share the last two games). Nobody ever suggested he should permanently be on the top line, so maybe look past this weird hatred for our own players Blues fans LOVE to revel in and look at his actual performance in the context we're discussing. At least for this season, in this context, you are demonstrably angry at the wrong dude. Even with his slow offensive start, Barby has been near the bottom of the stink list this season.

Not sure if you caught it, but ROR and Barby were damn good together tonight. Combined for the only goal, and had a +1.5 xG advantage combining all their shifts. Barby could have had, or probably should have had, four assists tonight. Three of our five shots off the goal frame were set up by him.

He was quite good tonight!
