I don't think they value that cap space that much to just throw those guys away for nothing.

A fourth line centre who isn't exactly cheap for the roll, not awful though, and Byron who really shouldn't be in the nhl right now. They get rid of two useful players and get one somewhat useful player but let's be real they can probably find a cheaper option than Evans.

1) It's not Byron but Armia

2) Cheaper option than Evans? With term? Really? Find me one

Oh right my bad with the Byron mix up. Still Armia isn't very useful for 3.4M. They would rather have Barrie who will put up at least 40+ points on the back end. Who cares about term when you are paying a 4th liner 1.7M, he could be non relevant next season then you are stuck with his cap hit. Even if you send him down you are stuck with 0.55M against. Also Armia also has 3 years left so they would be stuck with his cap hit. 14 points in 60 games is not worth that kind of money. Barrie is at least off the books after next season where they would be stuck with 5.1M for another one after that. So in the end you are downgrading JP for Armia who costs more and has less upside then trading a defenceman who you don't really have a replacement for a bottom 6 forward which are very common. Bad deal.

Thank you for your explanation but you still didn't come up with a cheaper option for the same PK contribution and the same faceoff %.

I'm not going to name off all the options that are cheaper, might not be better x doesn't matter this trade is awful for the oilers.

First person I thought of is Mcleod in jersey, fourth line centre with a better faceoff percentage, not sure on penalty killing stuff. Half the price and probably not too expensive to acquire.

Is he available or Jersey need to keep him?

Why would Jersey trade their 2016 first round pick who is doing well this year?

Why would Montreal trade Evans if he is so good?

Breaking News: We're rebuilding

So what do you have to offer for McLeod?

Not making one. It doesn't really matter now. I've proven your point void and described how bad this trade was.

You didn't prove anything. As I was trying to show how wrong you were you balked. Caufield is also cheaper but he's not available. You get the point?

Be careful man, your pride will kill you.

Sometimes it's just easier to accept that you were wrong and move on.

Actually most of the time it's the best thing to do.

Good luck in your search for a cheaper option.
