Dang, if you take Kerfoot out of the deal and add a draft pick maybe, the Leafs would want as much depth as possible for a playoff run. Pavelski is precisely the kind of player the Leafs need, and if they are in pure win now mode, sometimes a team just has to go for it.
That being said, the Stars, with Oettinger healthy anyway, have potential to be a threat in the west this season: if Benn and Seguin ever got their act together again, turned back the clock a bit, a trade deadline add or two could make them a scary team. I think they are still going for it, and I don't think they would give up Pavelski for a player(s) who just isn't as impactful as Pavelski is. He's too valuable to Dallas to trade at this point.
