I don’t see any potential upside to waiving frederic. He’s a solid player at a low cap hit that brings an element that the bruins sometimes lag in terms of team toughness and difficulty to play against. Reilly doesn’t need to pass through waivers. Zboril is fine.

Really what they should do is ditch stralman. He looked so bad in his one outing that I would have said enough is enough.

What does he do that is solid? Also, what "potential upside" is there when he's played regularly for two years and hasn't really improved. There's nothing tough or difficult to play against Frederic, he's a fringe 4th liner that can barely control the puck more than three seconds. Just because you hit/fight doesn't mean you're hard to play against. Troy Terry and Jordan Kyrou had 6 hits last year yet they are 1st liners and it's much more difficult to defend them than a player who hits because he never has the puck.

Reilly should be in the lineup every game especially with McAvoy out and he's getting scratched today because they want to keep worse players up. Zboril has been okay and this is why he was the 7th D last game. I don't mind waiving Stralman or sending Foligno down either.

When referring to upside, i meant upside to sending him down. Reilly doesn’t have to go through waivers, so there’s added insurance there in case of injury. Frederic does and would be sure to be claimed. Now, if Reilly gets called up, and is waived again, and he is claimed - potential upside is cap space. Not the same with Frederic, who has a very low cap hit. Frederic has a good tool kit. I think it’s bad asset management to waive him.

Again, what does he do to make him tough to play? He's not a top9 player and has never played well consistently on any fourth line he's been on.

If Frederic gets claimed, he's easily replaceable and in this case, he should be traded because he will bring back a pick, right? Unlike some other players that will need assets to get moved. Sure it clears less cap space but you get rid of overpaid players and bottom-line players first when you want cap space.

I think he’s a solid third line player. Good forechecker, good physical presence, and I think there’s more offense to his game once he finds his net front timing.

I think Reilly is more overpaid than frederic. Frankly I just don’t see any case for waiving frederic over just sending Reilly down in a paper transaction. Apparently the bruins front office agreed.

It definitely worked well in the playoffs last year.

Pastrnak looked like an AHLer for half that series. If you want to get reactionary about a small sample size, be consistent.

What? Pastrnak was one of the best players especially while getting double-shifted often.

In a couple games he was embarrassingly bad. Still got his PP points, but at 5 on 5 he was a joke in Raleigh.

I'm not sure what Trent Frederic you are watching. He offers very little. He's not tough to play against at all. He's a 4th liner at best. At this point waiving him is really not a loss to the lineup.

I'll add that Reilly is absolutely overpaid and I can't stand the way he plays.

Here’s one thing you never have to do….show me someone’s advanced stats. I don’t care. Ever. I have the internet to. I can look it up if i want to. I don’t because I much prefer to watch hockey than read spread sheets. Those stats are not just far from perfect, they’re far from good.

If you don’t think Trent frederic is tough to play against, you’ve either got an axe to grind, or you’ve never watched a shift.

At the games, and I’ll say this again, IN RALEIGH, pastrnak was embarrassing at 5 on 5. Better in game 7 certainly. The first three games he was visible on the powerplay, and visible with turnovers. I try not to look too far into it because something weird happened with that group. Game 2 was probably Bergeron’s worst game as an NHLer (just to save you the trouble, yes, i know he scored that game. He still sucked).
