Lucic scored 10 goals last season and will be lucky to even hit 10 goals this season. Anderson scored 19 in 69 last season and 17 in 52 the season before. He’s guaranteed to score 20 this season, likely scores 25, but is currently on pace for 30. This is not to mention what Anderson brings as far as creating space for teammates, digging in the corners and even leadership. He’s a very valuable player.

You don’t seriously expect a 34 year old 4th liner getting 10-12:00 minutes of ice time per game to score as much as a 28 year old 2nd liner getting 17:00 minutes do you!?

Aside from getting 50-70% more TOI, Anderson plays with
Better & More Talented Line Mates.

Anderson will be lucky to get 20 Goals this season too, something he has only achieved once in his career. Given the same playing time and line mates, Lucic would probably put up 15-17 Goals. If Lucic’s Shot % was 1/2 that of Anderson’s your argument would hold water, but they’re almost identical and so with more ice time and Better line mates, Lucic would get more shots therefore would score more goals. It’s simple logic.

Flames need a 30 Goal Scorer. Names like Conor Garland, Dominic Kubalik, Luke Kunin, Fabian Zetterlund, Ivan Barbashev, Tarasenko or Bo Horvat. Either Young Up & Comers on the Cheap or a Proven 1.00PPG+ Star, not Josh Anderson

Anderson would easily score 30 on Calgary’s top line. He scored 19 in 69 and 17 in 53 (56 game season) the last two seasons and is already second on the Habs. Over that time he hasn’t played with anyone near Huberdeau’s level. He’s good for 25 per 82 playing with okay linemates. Lucic is absolutely garbage, he couldn’t even keep up with play on those lines. There’s a reason he doesn’t get ice time.
