Leafs When everyones healthy

Description
I actually really want them to keep Kerfoot but trading holl does not provide enough flexibility. Last forward spot is between holmberg, malgin and steeves. Kerfoot will net an early 3rd round pick, not sure if it will be from Nashville.

the cap counts in Nashville, too - the Preds currently have $3.9M in cap space, sure, but they only have 20 guys counting. Even if you assume they only bring up 2 guys making the minimum at $750K, that drops their cap space to about $2.4M and that's not enough to eat Kerfoot's deal.

also: even if Nashville is fine running a 22 man roster, there's no way they're sending back a positive asset. They know your cap situation, they're not going to pay for the privilege of helping you get cap compliant (see: recent trades for Dmitry Kulikov, Max Pacioretty, Brent Burns, and Oliver Bjorkstrand returning next to nothing, if anything was sent back at all.)

Burns returned a 3rd, Bjorkstrand returned a 3rd+4th, dermott returned a 3rd last year in the exact same scenario. I’m not saying the team is Nashville, but considering Kerfoot is cheaper than all the players you listed, his market value is set at a 3rd that is the discount.

You really made a post that said sandin is 100% leaving Toronto and also said SDA, Amirov , Knies are above Robertson on the depth charts now. Don’t think your tales have been exactly accurate so far bud.

Burns & Bjorkstrand are both much more valuable players than Kerfoot - he's a 40 point player who had a spike to 50 playing on a line with Tavares & Marner. He scored less points (as a forward) than Brent Burns did (as whatever hybrid F/D he is), and Oliver Bjorkstrand had more than double the amount of goals that he did. If those two dudes only brought back the equivalent of a 3rd/4th (Burns was a 3rd & Steven Lorentz), why would Kerfoot come close to that deal when he's clearly less productive?

Also: don't know if you just glossed over it but Dmitry Kulikov costs less than Kerfoot ($2.25M AAV) and he was let go for FC. I'd argue that he's probably the best comp for Kerfoot - a middle-6/middle-pair type of guy on a mid-tier salary coming off a solid, if not spectacular season.

I just don't see a 3rd coming back for him, based on the values we've seen this summer. I'm not saying it's impossible, but there's very few suitors left that have the cap space for him and he's got a 10-team NTC that probably knocks out half those guys. And I just don't see Alexander Kerfoot as a guy that you do cap gymnastics to squeeze onto your roster.
