If Scuderi is on the decline as everyone suspects, why does Colorado make this trade? Scuds make 3.375m a year for two year. The Avs would be way better signing Franson for 4 m a year.

Nailed it palhal. I'm not saying Scuderi can't be traded, i'm just saying in order to trade him you'd have to A) Retain some salary and/or B) take on some salary back.

If any real GM takes on Scuds salary for any draft pick even if it was just a 7th rounder, it would be like throwing away that money. There are too many other options for a GM to use than to take on Scuds.

This is the rule that poster's don't seem to understand:
The value of a GM keeping his 3M cap hit and not even spending it > adding Scuderi at 3M and giving away a draft pick to boot.

pittsburgh would have to eat half of that salary and probably include a second round pick instead of the 4th. Then maybe...
