Description
Goals: Poulin, Hallander, Puustinen, Hallander, Andonovski, Legare
Swoyer had 4 points
Legare was pesky and getting under the whole Bruins team skin
The 1st line was 🔥
The power play was 🔥
Lindberg was great and pretty much kept the pens way ahead stopping a few breakaways. Gauthier not as good of a game. Pens were up 4-1 when Lindberg exited. Two late goals helped the pens overcome the bruins comeback.
Looks like Poulin, Legare, and Hallander really starting to show why they are highly thought of in the organization.

Really would have liked the game to be recorded so we could see the highlights.
I wish at least one of these guys could crack the lineup this season, but it seems unlikely with all the contracts we have given out.

I’m hoping they at least trade McGinn to make room. Even if only for someone like a Zohorna

I honestly doubt we see that happen before the season. It costed the Oilers a 2nd, 3rd and moving down 3 spots in the first round to get rid of Kassian, who makes about $500k more than McGinn, but has one year less on his contract. I feel like it would cost the Pens at least a 2nd and 3rd to get rid of McGinn and I am not sure they would be ready to do that.

McGinn is better than Kassian though. So I doubt it would take much to trade him. Also Kassian’s actual salary is more than his cap hit whereas McGinn’s isn’t. And Kassian is older by 3 years.

I still think it takes minimum a 2nd and something else.

For it to be a second, a team would still need to send Pittsburgh a draft pick in return or even a prospect. You don’t just trade $2.75M with a 2nd rounder. Doesn’t make a lot of sense

Edmonton traded $3.2M with a 2nd, 3rd and moved down in the 1st round. The Rangers traded $2.5M with a 2nd and 3rd for a prospect that will struggle to crack the NHL roster. It sucks, but it costs to dump salary. McGinn isnt bad, but at $2.75M for another 3 years, that is not super appealing to teams.

The difference is McGinn is better than those two guys and he’s younger. It isn’t like the team taking him would be paying the 3 years to him in 1. $2.75M really isn’t a lot for a guy that plays his role.

Again…Kassian is owed more actual salary than his cap hit. His salary this year is 3.5 million vs his 3.2 million cap hit. Nemeth is owed 3.5 million next year in actual salary vs his 2.5 million cap hit. McGinn’s actual salary matches his cap hit. McGinn is also younger and better than those players.
Kassian had a 2nd and 3rd attached but also they received Arizona’s 1st too.
