getting miller back

Description
I'd say this team checks all the boxes for a cup contender. In fact I'll use the athletic's checklist to prove it:

1. Elite No. 1 center: Elias Pettersson. I don't think I need to explain this, he's simply elite.
2. Elite 1st line winger: J.T. Miller. He's getting older, but if he can get anywhere near what he did in 2021-22, he definitely checks this box.
3. Two other 1st line caliber wingers: Boeser, Garland/Podkolzin. Boeser does have 1st line potential. He struggled in 21-22, but he's shown he can score 30 goals and almost a ppg in the past, so he should check this box unless he continues to regress. Garland and. Podkolzin both have a lot of potential. Podkolzin is probably one of the most underrated young players in the league, and Garland is one of the most underrated players in the league.
4. 1st line caliber center for the 2nd line: Bo Horvat. He's pretty much the ideal 2C.
5. Two additional top 6 forwards: Garland/Podkozlin and one of the 3rd line players. Whichever of Garland/Podkolzin you're not counting for point 3. Kerfoot has played in a top 6 role in Toronto, Kuzmenko could easily live up to the hype and even take a spot in the top 6, and if Mikheyev plays anywhere near as well as he did in Toronto, he'll be top 6 caliber as well. This team is super deep when it comes to wingers.
6. Elite No. 1 dman: Quinn Hughes. He needs to work on his two-way game a little, but he's absolutely elite.
7. First pairing caliber dman for the 2nd pairing: Chychrun. One of the most underrated dmen in the league. If he can get back to that 2020-21 scoring pace, where he scored at a 26 goal, 60 point pace, he can be a top 10 dman in the league.
8. Top 4 caliber dman to solidify the 2nd pair: OEL. I don't like his contract, but he's a proven quantity, and ideally could return to his mid 2010s form.
9. Top 4 caliber dman for the 3rd pair: Myers? The 3rd pair here is more of a shutdown pair, but there are other cheap-ish top 4 caliber dmen on the market.
10. Top 10 goalie: Demko. 22-23 Vezina winner, you heard it here first.

All in all, it's a pretty well rounded team, with a ton of offense and a great goalie. If the team looks anything like this come 23-24, I'll be happy.

Problem is JT is signing with a US based team in free agency. He’s not going back to Canada.

I have a good chuckle when anybody refers to Miller as old, or getting old. I mean every player is getting older. Miller is 29 years old lol. Even in a few years, I don't see him falling off a huge cliff just because he is 31-32

Source? I’ve only ever read that in ACGM comments.

Well that's not guaranteed at all, he's currently in talks with Vancouver, he wouldn't be if there wasn't a chance he'd return. The reason he hasn't resigned is more due to the Canucks not meeting his number, rather than him not wanting to stay in Canada.

I think ARZ will get better offers for Chychrun. For VAN to get in on the bidding you’d probably have to add the 2023 1st, which doesn’t make sense for VAN right now.

Dude, I wasn't saying anything like that. I wasn't saying he'll be a 4th line caliber player next year, I wasn't even saying resigning him is a bad idea, as hinted to by me suggesting resigning him to a 6 year deal. What I was referring to by saying he's "getting older" is that it's always a little worrying signing guys around 30 to long term deals, cause some players do fall off a cliff around their mid 30s.

Signing someone at 29 to an 8 year deal means you'd be paying them a lot of money at 36/37 y/o, at which point they might not be as good as their contracts. This is pretty simple stuff that I thought any hockey fan would be aware of, but apparently not.

You've posted 9.4K posts since June 2021, that's 20 posts a day in the last year and a half on a hockey forum. Maybe instead of posting condescending and idiotic replies nitpicking random ACGM's, you should go outside. Not just to recover your sanity, but to recover from that Vitamin D deficiency you're clearly suffering from smile

i mean I guess it depends how they do. If they're a playoff team, trading Höglander, Rathbone, and the 2023 1st would probably make sense. I know 2023 is a deep draft, but I'm not sure how much better of a player they'll get compared to Chychrun, especially since they'd be in a position to win right now.

No no, i didnt mean to be rude or anything. I just find it funny how late 20's to early 30 year olds in sports are treated like senior citizens lmao
You seem awfully upset that you seriously had to calculate my posts/day to get back at me. Perhaps you need to see a counseller if such small things set you in a frenzy. I'd genuinely suggest seeing someone

Late 40s, early 50s ppl are often referred to as "getting older", that's essentially what a late 20s, early 30s nhl player is known as. It's basically another term for when a player starts to decline. I don't see why that's weird to you, but whatever. also the therapy comment would work a lot better if i wasn't already in therapy and if I didn't have access to google and a calculator meaning calculating your post/day took roughly 30 seconds.

You still went out of your way to come at me for a simple comment that wasn't even an attack at you. I'm glad that you are getting therapy to get healthier though so keep that up

I just went out of my way to assist you. I figured you're having a pretty grave addiction to this site, so I made a simple suggestion that you should maybe go out in the sun for a few hours. Do you think I would've done so if I thought you were attacking me lmao? you're not making much sense. either way, thanks, I'm trying my best to kick this depression!

Yup, surprised.

But hey good for him, probably smart move to cash in now after a career year rather than run the risk of going back to his norm and decreasing his bargaining position. 🤷🏻‍♂️
