What’s in it for the Devils?

The extra year on Myers at a reasonable deal aside from the delusion that Johnsson is the same as Pearson.

Pearson played on a lower line, with better metrics (slaughtered him actually) despite more defensive zone starts.

Vancouver is paying to rip itself off for the sake of the second year of both players. NJ gets a depth boost now and a locked in cap decision next season.

Myers at 6 mil is not good. Myers at 4.4 is a steal and you don't have Severson for that second season regardless.

And Devils don't want the second years of both players. Nemec steps in for Severson. Foote steps in for Johnsson. Literally no need or want for Myers or Pearson. You can keep them
